When colour and design collide

James Place has received an injection of vibrant colour with the unveiling of a new large-scale art installation by South Australian artist and designer Matt Kavanagh. Spanning the 50-metre length of the boards surrounding the construction site of Charter Hall's 60 King William Street project, the installation features a fusion of art, illustration, design and photography to create a colourful attraction for locals enjoying the mix of eateries and retail destinations along James Place.

Public art is inherently placemaking, and this installation is intended to be the beginning of shaping the Precinct as a destination that is future-focussed and invested in environmental sustainability, technology and health and wellbeing for occupants and the broader community.

The 60 King William Street project, slated for completion in 2023, will be Adelaide's first carbon neutral-enabled building once finished, featuring a retail, food and lifestyle hub on the ground floor complete with cafes, restaurants and a barista bar.
