ADL Fashion Week runways

AFW AT KING'S LANE

Ready? Ready. The runway edits are here!

ADL Fashion Week (AFW) is set to inspire with a series of runways held at the newly completed King’s Lane, situated within 60 King William. This state-of-the-art landmark development will provide a contemporary backdrop for the inaugural AFW AT KING’S LANE runway shows, presented by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA) and supported by the City of Adelaide.

AEDA Chair Nikki Govan says the pivotal construction within the Rundle Mall Precinct is a perfect location for the 2023 runway experiences.

“60 King William, Adelaide’s largest and newest office building to date, is a milestone project, and the investment by Charter Hall for this development reinforces the city’s thriving retail economy.”

AFW AT KING’S LANE will showcase three unique runways, over six shows from Friday 20 October to Sunday 22 October, with the themes: THE WEEKEND EDIT, THE DAY TO NIGHT EDIT, and THE EVENT EDIT.

THE WEEKEND EDIT features elevated essentials that will work effortlessly into your everyday wardrobe. THE DAY TO NIGHT EDIT heroes the mantra of the trend ‘jeans and a nice top’, while THE EVENT EDIT embodies the excitement of event season.

Brands showcased across the three runway shows include a collection of international high-street icons and national favourites, along with emerging and established South Australian designers.

Local talent includes brands such as Daisy Says, House of Campbell, R.M.Williams, Nowa the Label, The Wolf Gang, Acler, Significant Other, and Off Duty. Celebrated Australian designers such as Oroton, Aje, Sass and Bide, BLANCA, Camilla & Marc, Alemais, Rachel Gilbret, Bec & Bridge, Assembly Label and Spendless Shoes will also feature, while attendees can also expect to see the likes of UNIQLO for international fashion.

Contributing to an unforgettable showcase of creativity, AFW AT KING’S LANE welcomes the return of Clip Joint Creative Team as the Official Hair Partner for the festival, and the debut of The French Beauty Academy as the Official Makeup Partner.

Clip Joint Creative Hair Director Atilio Dusa says the event will be inspiring for all those who appreciate fashion.

“This is an event with labels that people can purchase straight off the runway, and I believe that accessibility is key,” says Atilio. “Enhancing the outfits with stunning hair will truly elevate their appeal.”

David Jones Adelaide Store Manager, Sandra Celentano says the flagship department store’s involvement in AFW continues their presence in Adelaide’s retail environment, as one of Rundle Mall’s longest standing retailers.

"For generations, Adelaide shoppers have embraced the ability to access the extensive range of both homegrown and international designers at David Jones. AFW AT KING’S LANE is an exciting opportunity to showcase our offering in a festival dedicated to presenting the best of fashion.”

King’s Lane resides within 60 King William, a Charter Hall project designed by the globally recognised Cox Architecture firm. The project has famously retained and restored the heritage listed ‘Sands and McDougall façade’ which complements the sleek modern glass design. King’s Lane creates a new retail connection between King William Street and James Place, and will be a vibrant extension within the Rundle Mall Precinct.

Tickets for all runway shows cost $35, with attendees enjoying a drink on arrival, and take home a surprise-filled gift bag.

AFW AT KING’S LANE will run on Friday 20 October at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm, and Saturday 21 October and Sunday 22 October at 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm.
