Have you met Charlie? is a giftware store that began in May 2014 through a project called Renew Adelaide. This initiative helps launch new businesses by giving them an unused space rent free to help revitalize a shopping precinct. Lauren and myself (Bec) started Have you met Charlie? after successfully building our own independent businesses, Mintcloud and Coloured Pears. Our aim is to support and provide a platform for independent artists to really thrive in the retail environment, as well as offer a unique shopping experience for consumers conscious about supporting small businesses. One year on and we have now signed a lease after a fantastic year, driven by wonderful feedback and customers who love our unique edge.
