Boxing Day survival guide

Our top 5 tips for Boxing Day

It's one of the biggest shopping events of the year, with huge savings to be had across department stores, exclusive flagships and your favourite local Rundle Mall destinations. To make the most of the sales and Boxing Day activity, you'll need to be prepared - so we've curated these handy tips for shopping the Boxing Day sales in Rundle Mall.

1. Be the first in line!

All the action starts at 9:00am sharp, with a colourful confetti-soaked launch and DJs kicking off the huge sales at both the Myer Centre Adelaide and Adelaide Central Plaza. Be one of the first 100 in line at either Myer Centre Adelaide or Adelaide Central Plaza for the chance to score a $30 shopping voucher and complimentary coffee voucher to kickstart your shopping adventure, and be the first to grab that item you've had your eye on!

2. Kick back at the Cool Zone

With a sunny summer day (finally!) forecast for Boxing Day, it's important to ensure you are staying cool and hydrated while you shop. Bring a drink bottle which you can refill as many times as you like at the SA Water Quench Bench, located near the Gawler Place Canopy outside Strandbags. Feeling the heat? Take refuge in the beautiful air conditioning inside stores, take a break at a one of Rundle Mall's hundreds of dining destination and enjoy a cool drink, or grab an ice cream from the Sassi Ice Cream pop-up and kick back under the shade of the Gawler Place Canopy at the Cool Zone, open all day, with cooling misters to boot.

3. Arrive prepared

A good Boxing Day shopper knows comfort is key - ensure you're prepared with a hat, sunscreen, comfortable shoes, a water bottle, and your phone. If you're planning on trying on clothes, come dressed in something that's easy to change in and out of. Don't forget your shopping list!

4. Create a plan of attack

The sheer amount of offers, sales and discounts to navigate can be overwhelming. Browse the full list of Rundle Mall offers and make a hit-list of the key stores you need to visit, with a reminder of what you wanted to shop at each store. If you think the item you desperately want might sell out quick, plan to get in sooner rather than later.

5. Plan how to get here

Getting in to Rundle Mall is easy and inexpensive - pre-book a park at one of the many convenient major car parks throughout the precinct to secure a bay and lock in a flat rate. There are also plenty of easy public transport options to drop you right at Rundle Mall's doorstep, and deliver you back home with your precious new finds.
